Dythemis velox? - Dythemis velox - male

Dythemis velox? - Dythemis velox - Male
in valley of the Dry Frio River 35 miles north of Uvalde on county line, Uvalde County, Texas, USA
September 24, 2012
Looks a lot like Dythemis velox, and perches like a setwing, but there are too many cells in the forewing between the stigma and nodus. Any help will be appreciated. Was in my garden about 150 meters from a small, rocky stream in arid southwestern Texas.

Agree with your ID - Dythemis velox (male)
Per (1) - on pg. 644 the wing diagram of Dythemis velox shows 12 cells between the nodus and stigma on the forewing.
Your photo on the right forewing also appears, to me, to show 12 cells - although the three most distal cells are somewhat difficult to see.
There are not too many cells though.

Swift Setwing
After consulting Giff Beaton's Dragonflies & Damselflies, my money's still on Dythemis velox.
