Garner, Wake County, North Carolina, USA
September 27, 2012
Spider found under skateboard jump in dry hay in afternoon. Placed in terrarium to observe and photograph, then relaesed in hay. Have observed spider on front stoop at night. Mostly wooded yard has many native wetland species trees, with some planted flowers and mown grass areas.

Moved
Moved from Tigrosa aspersa to Tigrosa georgicola. In the 2nd and 3rd images, it looks like the orange band on the carapace is more like that of T. georgicola (which is bold/strong the full length of the carapace, as opposed to only being bold in the eye area as it is in T. aspersa).

Moved
Moved from Hogna.

Moved
Moved from ID Request. I think Hogna is very likely. Did you happen to take any ventral shots?

Wolf Spider
I will add my best ventral view. I let it go before realizing what might be useful for you to ID. If I see it again, I'll try to get a better photo.
