Buprestid I think; possibly in genus Thrincopyge or maybe Acmaeodera. Can anyone narrow it down? 2 images.

A syrphid mimic?
...or are they both aping something else?

Two species of syrphids share this pattern.

Hey Ron:
The pattern does look similar, but I don't know enough about the life history of either to guess what the selective advantage would be for Acmaeodera to mimic a syrphid fly??

I couldn't figure it out either, Bob.
Emulation of an idol? Works for some people. LOL!

Acmaeodera alicia Fall
Rick was able to id this as an Acmaeodera alicia. Rick really knows his Acmaeodera. Rick was wanting me to ask you about some Agrilus, write me if you want to.

...
Species page made and images moved.

Thanks Sean
It's always cool to get a new page!

Acmaeodera
I'll ask a friend of mine, Rick Westcott, what species this is. He specializes in Acmaeodera and Chrysobothris so I am sure He'll be able to help out on this one.
