water mite larvae
These are water mite larvae of some sort, most likely Hygrobatoidea. A great many taxa of water mites parasitize Chironomidae, so knowing the host isn't very helpful in this case.

Is there any reason
NOT to identify the host? These mites are larvae and are pretty unlikely to key out, especially from a picture.

Moved
Moved from "Nematocera" (Non-Brachycera).

I moved this to Mites for an ID.
