Based on the elytral pubescence pattern and what appear to be antennae with enlarged basal segments instead of being filiform. I suspect it's
H. striatus
, but I agree we need to see the specimen dry.

??] -- it's a rather tough group (~2 dozen spp. in 13 genera in CA), and a higher-res photo of a dry specimen will certainly help
