Metepeira spider - Metepeira comanche - female

Metepeira spider - Metepeira comanche - Female
Midland, Midland County, Texas, USA
October 1, 2012
Size: small
this metepeira made her web only about 20 feet from the metepeira I photographed in July. This web is up higher, both webs face the south, the retreat being to the north side of the web. I assume it's the same species, Arizonica?

Moved from Metepeira arizonica.

After reviewing all your images and getting some comments from John Balaban via email it looks like this spider is a better match for M. comanche based on pattern, coloring and ventral markings. I don't know why I didn't consider that species in my original list. Sorry about the multiple moves. =]
