Haven't a clue - Jalysus

Haven't a clue - Jalysus
Gaithersburg, Montgomery County, Maryland, USA
October 3, 2012
Size: 1/3 inch
I saw several of them. They appear to have a long proboscis, which would suggest either they pray on plants or other insects. It resembles what I would imagine a young crane fly would look like without wings. I only have the one image, hope it is enough to go on.

Stilt Bug…
See reference here.

Fascinating
I've never heard of them before, but after looking at the images, I've certainly seen them before. Are they plant eaters or bug eaters?

Jalysus sp.; all strictly herbivorous

Mostly plant feeders...
with a few exceptions.
