Halorates plumosus - Collinsia plumosa

Halorates plumosus - Collinsia plumosa
St-Hugues, Quebec, Canada
June 13, 2012
identification made with a key

Moved
Moved from Spiders. I went ahead and moved these all to Collinsia to keep in line with the World Spider Catalog. I've left notes all all species pages and on the now empty Halorates genus page. Hopefully the WSC will get up to date here soon. I wonder what's the hold-up?

not official
I think that the problem is, the Quebec identification guide's use of Collinsia doesn't qualify has a revision -- no reasons or supporting evidence for the change are provided. Without these the WSC, according to its own rules, can't make the change. Same thing applies when Rod says that two species are synonymous -- to make the change official, someone has to publish an article first.

Perhaps Nadine or Pierre or someone else was/is working on a revision to come...

Nice to see these specimens!
Paquin & Dupérré 2003 use Halorates, but the World Spider Catalog still places the species in Collinsia.
