Carolina Mantis - Stagmomantis carolina - female

Carolina Mantis - Stagmomantis carolina - Female
Kokomo, Howard County, Indiana, USA
October 4, 2012
It's really fun to see her catch and eat her prey. Sometimes she eats the left side while the right side is still squirming to get away, and sometimes she eats the middle first and finishes with the abdomen and the head. Fascinating to watch!

Watch her
long enough and you may get to see her grab a victim, begin eating, pause, grab another victim with the free arm and hold onto it while finishing the first one.

Cool!
:)
