Euxoa septentrionalis ? - Euxoa septentrionalis

Euxoa septentrionalis ? - Euxoa septentrionalis
Aromas, San Benito County, California, USA
October 6, 2012
Size: 40.7mm wingspan.
Came to black light/MV trap. (live oak/chaparral habitat). Looks like another . I'm guessing it is Euxoa septentrionalis which (according to http://pnwmoths.biol.wwu.edu/browse/family-noctuidae/subfamily-noctuinae/tribe-noctuini/euxoa/euxoa-septentrionalis/index.html) has round orbicular spot with a central ocellus and flies late summer to fall; rather than the similar Euxoa tessellata which (according to http://pnwmoths.biol.wwu.edu/browse/family-noctuidae/subfamily-noctuinae/tribe-noctuini/euxoa/euxoa-tessellata/index.html) has asymmetrical pale gray-filled orbicular spot and flies in summer.
