Predatory Stink Bug Eggs - Podisus

Predatory Stink Bug Eggs - Podisus
Lakeland, Polk County, Florida, USA
October 11, 2012
Found these eggs on the underside of a Dutchman's Pipe vine leaf in my butterfly garden today. They shined like tiny, golden pearls when I put them in the sun and I did not see the circle of 'hairs' in the centers until I loaded the pictures onto my computer. I have Polydamas Swallowtail eggs and caterpillars on the same plant and my butterfly garden is filled with a variety of host and nectar plants but I am not sure what species this is. The eggs are so unique, it should not be hard to identify, but I have not come up with anything in any of my ID books.

Argh! Predatory stink bugs?!
I thought they would be some sort of caterpillar :( I know the stink bugs eat my caterpillars. Who knew their eggs were so pretty?
