Water Scavenger Beetle?

My clostest guess would be Water Scavenger Beetles (Hydrophilidae) ยป Berosini perhaps.

ID attempted using BG Recent Posts, Mike Quinn's most recent.

might be E. explicitus, both spp. are present in TX
was the specimen collected? the two spp. can be separated reliably only based on genital features

an aquatic beetle indeed, but from a diff. suborder
Moved from ID Request.
