Beautiful portrait, Robyn! Really shows wing venation well.

Alice and I saw these about 130 miles north of the Algodones Dunes, along the Colorado River near Needles:

   

 
They seem to like certain typ
They seem to like certain types of desert habitat. I've never seen them in the Anza Borrego Desert, for example (although perhaps they're there).
