Jumping Spider - Phidippus audax - female

Jumping Spider - Phidippus audax - Female
Fairfield, Connecticut, USA
August 13, 2004
It measured approximately 1/3" with legs fully retracted, and about 1/2" with legs extended. Most of the jump spiders I've encountered have been about 30% smaller. The reflective surface is a car window.

Phidippus audax ID confirmed by Jeff Hollenbeck

Immature P.audax
This is most likely Phidippus audax, and it is a young spider. In P. audax, immatures will have the dorsal spots in shades of yellow, orange, or sometimes reddish, while adults have dark black bodies with bright white spots.
