Jumping Spider - Phidippus audax - female

Jumping Spider - Phidippus audax - Female
Fairfield, Connecticut, USA
August 13, 2004
The lighting made this Phidippus look hairier in the pictures than in person. It was very hard to coax it onto a finger--I did, but it lasted less than a second, as it leapt to my tripod immediately after. In this shot, it's sitting in a recess in the tripod, watching my free hand flutter and distract it from the camera (those alert eyes will always zero-in on an approaching camera).
