Congratulations! That's a beautiful portrait.

Interesting behavior.
This, or a nearly identical species, does the same thing here in Tucson: perches at the tip of foliage. At my apartment complex there are hedges of oleander, and I often see these flies perched at the very tips of the highest leaves. I wonder if this is something like "hilltopping."
