Picture Date
Yes the picture was taken in december. It was taken inside Zoo Miami, We really only go to the Zoo at around december/January when its cooler outside. Miami is just way to hot the rest of the time. They were all over at the time, we saw a zoo keeper taking photo's and asked what they were. She said she goes around each morning and takes pictures and had not seen these before and did not know what they where. Said she would have to do some research on them later in the day to try and find out what they were. They were huge, probably the biggest caterpillar's I have seen in person.

Location
Were these in a "Butterfly House" or part of some exhibit? If they were captive raised indoors the date may be misleading.

Wild
They were wild, inside the zoo but not part of the zoo as in the zoo did not bring them or put them their. They were on the tree's and all over on the floor/sidewalk. The exact place that this picture was taken was along the walking path at the far end of the lake next to a huge metal sculpture of an eagle.

Closer cropped photo?
Michael, welcome to Bug Guide!
Do you have a much closer cropped photo without the text over the subject, that we could keep in the guide?
Examples of cropping can be found in the guide
here.
Thanks
