Found on back porch late-night. This ant was a loner among a crowd of alate ants and hoppers. I don't even know where to begin looking for this.....

Beautiful, clear pic of this tiny ant. Nine segmented antennae point to the genus, but the species are under revision, so we'll have to wait, as there are several, dark-colored, introduced South American ones in your region.

 
For the past year or so
this genus has begun to be far more common in this area. Twenty years ago, if it was reddish it was a fire ant, blackish, carpenter and if it were really tiny, Acrobat. If you scratch the surface a bit today, you might find 4 or more different kinds of ants in the space of a couple of minutes. They are not nearly so hard to find nowadays.....
