Southern Masked Chafer? - Maladera formosae

Southern Masked Chafer? - Maladera formosae
Fairfield, Wayne County, Illinois, USA
August 13, 2006
These were mixed in with typical SMC's but stood out because of their darker color, matte finish and slightly smaller size (which I didn't measure - sorry). Is it another varient of SMC, sexual dimorphism or another species?

Serica?
Looks like genus Serica to me. The slight iridescence is pretty diagnostic all by itself.
