What is this thing - Calyptostoma

What is this thing - Calyptostoma
Basking Ridge, Somerset County, New Jersey, USA
October 18, 2012
I found this thing while digging in / ripping apart rotting logs on a woodpile in my yard. I thought it was a dead shriveled up red velvet mite or something, especially because it's legs were pulled up close to it's body when I found it. I thought it was dead but saved it anyway, and later noticed it was slowly moving in the container.

a great addition
Hi Sean:

There aren't a lot of photos of live, adult Calyptostoma on the web, so thanks very much for posting them.

Cheers,
Heather
