Carpenter Bee? - Xylocopa micans

Carpenter Bee? - Xylocopa micans
Indrio Savannas, St. Lucie County, Florida, USA
August 19, 2006
Did not seem to have any bluish iridescence on the abdomen.

Old timer female - X. micans
When at a very late age, these insects tend to loose their bluish iridescence, on the body cuticle but also on the wing membranes, which become more amber and transparent than in young individuals.
Venation is definitely that of a Carpenter bee, clearly visible on left forewing.

Thanks! I was thrown off by the matte cuticle.
