Size: approx 2cm
Found approx 50 of these larvae in dead leaf rot and soil when i moved an old log.

Flies?
Did they have legs or prolegs? They remind me of Bibionomorpha.

They were not moving like caterpillars, but pulling themselves forward, unevenly/ kind of rolling..does that help?

 
Probably flies
Most insect larvae have legs or prolegs (e.g. beetles), or are immobile (e.g. bees). Compare Bibio.(1)
