Small beetle - Cryptocephalus

Small beetle - Cryptocephalus
Uwharrie National Forest, Montgomery County, North Carolina, USA
October 20, 2012
This small beetle just happened to land in the leaf litter in front of me while I was watching some ants. I hesitate to put a size estimate here, because I don't have an accurate measurement, but perhaps 5 mm or so? Thanks for ID help!

E.G. Riley says: "Cryptocephalus sp.,
"...one of the species close to C. tinctus"

Moved from Bassareus.

Bassareus, i suppose

Maybe B. formosus?
I don't know if this is a perfect match, but from the pictures in the guide it seems to match fairly closely with B. formosus. But maybe there are other Bassareus sp. not in the guide that might be a closer match, too.
