Buffalo treehopper - Stictocephala tauriniformis

Buffalo treehopper - Stictocephala tauriniformis
Skowhegan, Maine, USA

the buffalo treehopper
Ceresa alta

It seems that I was wrong
the pronotal crest is too low to be that of the buffalo treehopper, and it is edged in brown, which suggests instead Ceresa tauriniformis

Definitely in the genus Stictocephala, but whether it is the buffalo treehopper is up for debate unless you had the specimen identified by an expert. In many places, the threecorned alfalfa treehopper is much more common, and looks nearly identical.
