Brown moth
Mammoth Hot Springs Cabins, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, USA
July 30, 2012
I've looked at keys and browsed the guide and the closest match I can find is the Mouse Moth, Amphipyra tragopoginis. The moth had two spots on each wing visible to my naked eyes. Even on the photo, it is unclear if there's a third spot, and the moth was quite dark, so I'm skeptical about my identification.
