Cicurina simplex? - Cicurina simplex - male

Cicurina simplex? - Cicurina simplex - Male
Cowichan Valley, British Columbia, Canada
October 23, 2012
Size: ~7mm body length
Found in the woodpile. Might be the first Cicurina I've seen in there.

The retrolateral palp view looks like a pretty good match for C. simplex in Exline 1936. For some reason on the ventral shot, the spider refused to hold his palp in such a way as to have the principal apophysis align nicely. The color also matches with local C. simplex females.

ID confirmed by Rod Crawford
"Yes, the sickle-shaped RTA that is "fat" in the middle third is a dead giveaway."

Moved from Spiders.

Looks good
The Chamberlin & Ivie (1940) drawings are much better, in my opinion. Rod's the expert, but I think you're right about C. simplex.

C. simplex
Thanks!

I'll look into getting C&I 1940. I've been using Exline 'cause it was downloadable from the AMNH. :D
