Rapids Clubtail, Gomphus quadricolor - Phanogomphus quadricolor

Rapids Clubtail, Gomphus quadricolor - Phanogomphus quadricolor
Shenandoah River State Park, Virginia, USA
April 20, 2006
In my original post I had copied the wrong data on this uncommon species - the correct data is Shenandoah River State Park on April 20, 2006 in the Shenandoah River floodplain (lots of Pawpaw, Sycamore and Boxelder), along the nature trail where the canoe launch is, about 75 feet from the river in a open sunny area.
(Incorrect data is Shenandoah National Park Aug of 2007)

Rapids Clubtail Dragonfly
Moved from ID Request.

Rapids Clubtail
Uncommon indeed. Yours is only the 11th image on the site and a first for your state and a first for any month other than June.

Thanks Marty
Thanks for your confirmation. I have corrected the data which I had copied from another digital image file. Since it was a digital camera it was easy to get the original metadata. That day was very memorable - in addition to the Rapids Clubtail, we got the state parks 1st record of Pine Elfin, also Shenandoah National Parks 1st record of Henry's Elfin (at Dicky Ridge) and 5 species of Morels. Thanks again - Ann and Rob
