Melanoplus foedus ? - Melanoplus angustipennis - female

Melanoplus foedus ? - Melanoplus angustipennis - Female
Gunner Pool campground, Ozark National Forest, Stone County, Arkansas, USA
July 16, 2011

fits M. angustipennis better
This species likes sandy areas, and varies a lot in coloration. There is a chance I'm wrong, but I don't think so. Finding matching males would make it a sure thing since they are much easier to identify.

Moved from Melanoplus.

Thanks very much.
Thanks very much.

Possibly that is correct,
I'll need to look at options for Arkansas. I'm not sure how far east M. foedus ranges, and I'm not certain that is the only species that can look like this in the region. Plus, M. foedus is notorious for looking different in different regions.

Moved from Grasshoppers.

Thank you (as usual)
for your very quick attention. I am finding Capinera's range maps often pretty inadequate. Perhaps Arkansas records haven't been written up very much?
