Species
This color form is opaca. Some say there is only one species and it becomes paler to the west. The color difference is the extent of the dark spots. If they are small, the abdomen appears pale with dark spots. If they are large, they merge and the abdomen appears dark with pale spots. If you believe there is one species, your fly is a pale vigil. If you believe there are two species, your fly is an out of range opaca.
