Being a Rhode Islander myself (although I am away, and did not experience Sandy firsthand) I'm glad to see your submission.

This is almost certainly Squilla empusa. A species I've only seen in captivity in RI. Hopefully I'll come across one in the Bay at some point. I believe they are fairly common in Narragansett Bay, but reclusive and rarely seen by the general public.

Although there isn't a real need for marine crustaceans in the guide, I'd be happy to move your photos to the proper order page, which surprisingly enough already exists in the guide.

Thanks for your quick input. Aquatic crustaceans were recently adopted by bugguide fairly recently, and I welcome that, but I'm still terrible at ID'ing them. Hopefully someone can create the full taxonomy. I will add these to my RI Bugguide page in the mean time. Thanks again.
