Nice find! This is the only photo of early instar Anisota consularis larvae that I have seen. A. consularis is a rather rarely photographed Saturniid.

A. stigma can occasionally be similar to A. consularis, but the prominent, black lateral line leads me to confidently ID this as A. consularis. Also, this is further south than the generally accepted distribution of A. stigma, but well within the range of A. consularis.

I felt like I should've been to ID this critter but wasn't able. Its not listed in Wagner's Caterpillars of Eastern North America. So its great to have you all as a resource.
