Grammia sp. - Apantesis parthenice

Grammia sp. - Apantesis parthenice
Barrie, Simcoe, Ontario, Canada
August 20, 2006
Size: ~5cm
Came to light - unfortunately crawled away between deck boards before I could get a measurement, but it was a rather large tiger moth, I'm guessing around a 5cm wingspan. Looks like Grammia, but none of the pics I've found here or searching the web seem to have quite the same wing markings.

Moved from Grammia.

yes
I agree with G. parthenice. Lack of antemedial spots rules out virgo.

Grammia parthenice
Looks like Parthenice Tiger Moth - Grammia parthenice to me but maybe someone else can tell you for sure.
