Possibly Scathophaga furcata
Scathophaga furcata is a common species with bare arista, legs red except for large, dark spot on fore femur, and darkened crossveins.

Moved
Moved from Dryomyza. Vibrissae and bristles on tibiae rule out Sciomyzidae and Dryomyzidae.

Moved
Moved from Dryomyzidae.

Moved tentatively... as a consensus placement :]
Moved from ID Request.

Not a sciomyzid
Just helping to eliminate a family. Face (especially prominent clypeus) suggests Dryomyzidae.

Sciomyzoidea?
Without looking, I had the impression of Dryomzidae or Sciomyzidae, but the color is different from the species I usually see.

Color
I can't make any representations regarding color. Although I flooded the scene with a strong flash that bounced everywhere, the fly was on the lit porch light which causes a warm yellow cast on everything. I might try changing the white balance but my experience with two strong and different light sources is that you still never know what the right colour is.
