Numbers
The only member of the genus Haematomis found in America north of Mexico.(1)
Size
The wingspan averages 24-30 mm.
Identification
Original description is online: (215).
Forewing has a rose colored patch where the wing meets the body.
Hindwings are gray with some white at the base and darker towards the costal margin.
Range
Arizona, the Big Bend region of Texas and south into Mexico.
Type locality: Mexico: Oaxaca.

The adults are most common from July through September. (2)

Larval host unknown.
See Also
Haematomis mexicana is very similar but has larger light shaded area along the costa and is only found in Mexico.
Rhabdatomis laudamia, has wider light shaded area along the inner margin.
