Tiny Black Rove Beetle

Tiny Black Rove Beetle
Basking Ridge, Somerset County, New Jersey, USA
November 6, 2012
Another one found in the leaves trapped in my driveway!!!

I remember collecting this a week or two ago but never photographed it because it was *just* black. Instead I stuck it in my ant farm with a bunch of other rove beetles hoping that it (or one of the others) would happen to wander into the ant's tunnel and manage to get trapped in there and end up eating the mites.

So when I realized how many rove beetles live in my yard I decided to try to photograph them all, which meant that I had to fish this one out of my ant farm and photograph him too. The mites are from my ant farm.
