Size: one inch, slightly less
Chased this one quite a while before it decided to let me photograph it. Wicked looking critter.

Cool! Happy I was able to give you something you didn't have. I'm just glad these flies don't get any any bigger...wouldn't be safe to go outdoors during the summer.

They do get bigger! Saropogon
They do get bigger! Saropogon bryanti averages around 20mm in length; S. hypomelas (N. Mex., Texas, n. Mexico) runs about 22 - 25mm, while S. dispar (Okla., Texas) reaches 30mm or more.
