these seemed to be everywhere at about 8,000 ft in elevation.

I personally think this is possibly an undescribed species. Its an in between specimen between C. alpina and C. arida, closer to alpina. The R2+3 vein is reddish, but the wing pattern does not match C. arida. And C. alpina has never been recorded from AZ.
