Mt Lemmon, Pima County, Arizona, USA
September 9, 2011
at about 8,000 ft in elevation, on Ceonothus.

Oedicarena latifrons
It is O. latifrons. Nice image. Could you please send me a larger or higher resolution image, if you have one?
Thanks,
Al Norrbom (allen.norrbom@ars.usda.gov)

A similar wing
Oedicarena latifrons has a similar wing (not necessarily a similar body).

Rivellia
Looks like a Rivellia species to me, but I can't match to to a species.

Probably not Rivellia
It is superficially similar to Rivellia but the wing pattern is different in two ways: there is a spot between what would be the second and third bands of Rivellia, and there is a disconnected streak in the anal lobe. I haven't tried to key it yet but I think it will turn out to be some other Tephritoidea.
