Moth - Hypenodes palustris
Pine River, Cass County, Minnesota, USA
July 29, 2006
Any ID for this one? Hopefully, the dark scales won't be a hindrance for ID. Thanks.

Follow Up Confirmation
Bob Patterson forwarded this to Don Lafontaine who responded, "As you’ll see from the attached tree there are actually many undescribed Hypenodes . However I am confidednt that this one is H palustris."

Moved to Hypenodes palustris
Moved from Erebidae.

J. D. Roberts comments on one of Tom's images here that your example "... does appear to be palustris."

New species for BugGuide and there are no live images at MPG.

Moved from Moths.

Hypenodes caducus
Pretty sure this is Hypenodes caducus. See images at MPG here. Also note that BOLD has specimens from Minnesota.

You might want to resubmit this one with a tighter crop at higher resolution if possible.
