caterpillar - Ctenucha virginica

caterpillar - Ctenucha virginica
Ithaca, Tompkins County, New York, USA

Looks similar to Ctenucha virginica but the body isn't black and the tufts may not be right. Is it some other arctiid?

I agree, it looks a lot like the Ctenucha
it has a lot of features in common with this one, including face color:

.

No sign of the mid-dorsal black tufts, but the red legs and white spiracular stripe are also used for ID. Surely a close relative if not the same species. I wondered if there are any other Ctenuchas in NY, but I just checked and the other species are all western or southern.

I guess I'll move it
to Ctenucha virginica and someone will correct me if it's not the right place. Thanks Hannah.
