Atomaria fuscata --det. C. Johnson
Moved from subgenus Anchicera.

Because of its hairs and small pronotom...
..it is not Atomaria fuscata.

thanks v
too bad it was fuscata!

hope it's not another fuscata...
Moved from ID Request.

neat genus of beetle!
any pictures that would tell if it's fuscata or not?

sent to Colin Johnson already
besides male parts, the features that are most important in their diagnostics include [i] antennae (esp. shape & relative size of the basal segments); [ii] overall body shape & proportions; and [iii] dorsal punctation/microsculpture/vestiture.
i wish the photos were sharper, but Dr Johnson has immense experience with this subfamily and is nothing short of a miracle worker.
