unknown micro moth - Cisthene angelus
Dog Canyon, Otero County, New Mexico, USA
April 28, 2008
not a good picture, but hoped the color pattern might be distinctive

Moved
Moved from Cisthene. Two important aspects which point readily to Angel Lichen Moth:
-- All orange thorax including central disk.
-- Oblique PM band which is nearly parallel to the outer FW margin.
This example has a thinner PM band than many other examples, but the orange thorax is diagnostic, shared only with the Pictured Lichen Moth (C. picta) of the s. Great Plains on which the PM band is oriented differently.
