Splotchy brown leafhopper - Graphocephala ignava - male

Splotchy brown leafhopper - Graphocephala ignava - Male
Madera Canyon, Santa Cruz County, Arizona, USA
November 5, 2012

Moved
Moved from Leafhoppers.

Graphocephala ignava
Another male. Note the damaged spots on the leaf - the other shot of this insect showed similar damage. What could it be?

Skeletonized patches
I saw weevils in Madera Canyon leaving somewhat similar damage on oak leaves:

The plant this leafhopper was on looked just like black cherry -- which I guess it could have been, since I just checked and Prunus serotina occurs in Arizona.
