The ambush bugs we normally see around here look very much like the jagged ambush bug pictured in the Guide. This one was quite different in appearance. On Canada Thistle

A bitter meal
This bug doesn't seem to mind the bitter alkaloids that protect this 7-spotted lady beetle (Coccinella septempunctata) from other predators. Cool picture!
