Explanation of Names
Named in honor of famed Utah insect collector Tom Utting Spalding (1866-1929), collector of the type specimen. His story is a good one, give it a read.
Range
Holotype male: Provo, Utah, July 30, 1909 (T. Spalding).

Somewhat resembles pale specimens of fumiferana, but differs in having the hind wings almost white. (1)
