Bee Fly? - Bombus perplexus - male

Bee Fly? - Bombus perplexus - Male
Portsmouth, New Hampshire, USA
August 9, 2012
Size: A little over 1cm
I'm pretty sure this is a Bee Fly (Family Bombyliidae). It was resting on a vertical surface.
Perhaps Bombylius sp? Perhaps not! Sadly it appears to be missing a left foreleg.

Moved from ID Request.

Bee
This is a genuine bee. Look at the shape of the veins along the front edge of the wings and compare to bees and bee flies.

Bumble Bee?
Thanks for your comment. If it's a bee, then Bombus perplexus perhaps?

Yes
A male
