Mite

Mite
Cornell Campus, Tompkins County, New York, USA
November 30, 2012
Size: <1 mm
Found in the same container as some springtails I am raising.

Thanks Heather
Moved from Mites and Ticks. My springtails are quite large(5mm) but maybe they could be eating young or eggs. Thanks for the ID!

Mesostigmata
Hi Graham:

It is a recently moulted mesostigmatan, probably in the Dermanyssina, but that's as far as I can comfortably take the i.d. It's a predator and may be feeding on your springtails, or possibly on nematodes if you also have them in your culture.

Cheers,
Heather
