Spam

So with this new forum, does someone get an auto email when we post a new topic?

Disguised Spam?
4th comment from top here.

Has two large images advertising "Photobucket"...w/ proviso "image currently not available"...but hovering over image shows no underlying URL? Except indirectly suggesting a date/sighting from Kentucky, seems to have no substantial utility or relevance to the thread.

Contributor has single comment on BG...and added the comment on date long after sub-thread where it appears.

Not spam
It's an attempt to display a bug image from another website. There is a Complete Markup Article in the Article's forum on how to do this. The image was deleted there, so it displays an error message instead.

Term paper spam...
...here.

Thanks again, Ken
Got it.

Weird conspiracy rambling?
I found this weird comment from what looks like a throwaway account on my old photo of a webspinner. They seem to be talking about some kind of alien conspiracy theory?? At any rate, it's totally irrelevant to real arthropods.

Not sure what that was...
It is gone now.

several spam comments

Puppies

Thanks for spotting this one.

Not sure about
this one. An empty forum topic?

New User
The poster is just a new user based on both pics and comments. He/she is apparently attempting to draw attention to their posts but unfamiliar with the purpose and mechanics of the forums.

account has sightings
The account has what look to be legitimate photos submitted, which would appear to be from the area they claim (Oklahoma). If it's a bot, it is an extremely clever bot.
User needs to enter dates in the fields, and correct the County location, as another editor noted already.

doubly spammed
This post has casino spam from ”BillStall” and an irrelevant comment from ”MaryFerguson”

It took them a little while...
...but Ms. Mary finally edited her post to include a casino link.

You can safely bet that account won't post anything again :)

but it will be back
in some new, transmogrified, form :-( Somebody out there must have the impression that insect enthusiasts are gamblers but it's only the ones that collect stinging wasps...

yet another strange one

No doubt about this one...
the entire profile page was like an infomercial :)

another strange one to watch is here

An account to keep an eye on...
...here. No spam yet, but I suspect it's just a matter of time.

I will keep an eye on it...

It's a bot--needs to be cauterized
Nice find of bot-generated text in the wild. Whoever monitors this stuff should delete that fake account.

We did not click on mcdvoice

definitely SPAM
No need to click, that is obviously SPAM. User has no image submissions and just that one comment. Text is obviously bot-written. User account:
Lorenalowrence
Authenticated user, but obviously the spammers/bots got around that.

Somewhat disguised spam
here, necroposting on a 15-year inactive thread. Poking around, it looks like the site's really a job listing and e-commerce site that uses a sort of article farm, using a number of stolen photos (including the one on that page), to lure in potential business under false pretenses. It's at least bordering on what's known as the SEO bait-and-switch technique, which is often considered a prohibited tactic by the FTC.
