So with this new forum, does someone get an auto email when we post a new topic?

Been busy...
It took me a little while but I got it. Thanks for reporting.

Looks like a spam post here

Exterminator spam...

Jonny Behrens keeps posting the same message
to the General Discussion forum. You may have to deal with it if he continues.

Glitch?
Jonny Behrens replies that he only intended to post once and has deleted the redundant entries.

Excellent
It turns out not to be a problem after all, thanks

I'm not sure what it is, but I certainly don't intend to click on any of the links. :)

Recurring spam
"taxonomic" is spam that keeps being put back after it is removed. I found it with the first search link listed in topic Finding Recurring Spam.

potential spam
looks like either spam for a "plagiarism checker" or a malware site

TIA

Thanks for reporting
I took care of it.

It's back
Same spam appended to the same BugGuide book post but a different bogus user

Thanks again
It's gone

Again
Here. I added this to the topic Finding Recurring Spam I just created to keep track of such.

Yes
We agreed this exact comment seen elsewhere is spam in "looks like spam" below. There were two variations seen then. Both sent you to a site with a "hire editor" button, which no doubt takes your credit card info. Searching plagiarism check will locate any future occurrences.

Sorry it took so long...

Thanks for all the input.

Probably not
I looked at Francisco Darrell's only other comment on BG. I am guessing he is the poster's teacher instructing him on the need for proper citation of quoted material.

Seems not to be -
The image was posted in April 2016. This comment is October 2020. Either that teacher is a very slow grader, or this is spam to trick Google for that plagiarism checking website

Maybe
I didn't notice the dates. Both comments link to a website with a "hire editor" button. The comments seem almost but not quite appropriate. It my be one of those AI bots that have a rudimentary ability to comprehend and reply to posts. I suggest monitoring this user for other such activity. There are only two posts to date.

We suggest
removing those comments

Oh, no doubt

Russian spam
https://bugguide.net/node/view/1756546 One of several posts with links to a video in the In Remembrance thread. Translation of the title gives this: Aston Villa Newcastle watch online live video broadcast of the match. I'm assuming this isn't even remotely entomological.

Thanks for reporting.
The comments have been removed.

There is such a thing as liteblue, but this does not appear to be the correct URL (and liteblue does not appear to have anything to do with mailing bugs anyway).
