Size: Body is 1.5 inches long
The insect was found indoors at 7a.m. coming out from beneath a cabinet

What a great visitor :-)
This is the caterpillar-hunting Fiery Searcher, which I think is the largest ground beetle (family Carabidae) in the US. Scientific name is Calsoma scrutator. Compare.
