Silky cocoon hanging from shrubs in Colorado Desert - Diguetia

Silky cocoon hanging from shrubs in Colorado Desert - Diguetia
Blythe, Riverside County, California, USA
November 5, 2012
Size: ~3 inches long
Suspended from silk-like threads. Outside of cocoon stuck with dead leaves, small twigs, etc. Very common this fall.

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

Looks like Diguetia

This is exciting!
I would have never guessed this was the work of a spider, although the web the "cocoon" is suspended from should have been a giveaway. I assumed it was from some moth or butterfly pupa. Very cool.

...
Diguetia seems right to me too.
